Dearest loyal Medium readers. It’s been a while. Why? I’ve been writing for the past few months on Substack.com.

After four years writing on Medium, I simply saw that Substack was a better fit for me. No hard feelings at all toward Medium.

My life story in a few sentences

Let me start with some background as some of you know my story and some don’t.

I grew up in Newport Beach, California, then headed off to Princeton for college. After graduating, I moved to Washington, D.C., where I worked on Capitol Hill for two congressmen and then ran a lobbying company.

After a good bit of soul-searching, I decided to throw caution to the wind and pursue my creative side. So I packed up my car and drove to Hollywood where I became a television writer.

My big break came working on The West Wing, where I was on the writing team that won the Emmy for Best Drama Series. I then worked on some lesser-known…
