Great article. Love Vince Gilligan and BB. I worked in several one hour drama writer's rooms and can confirm that trillions and trillions of brain cells die in the breaking of any story. Tons of work goes into it. One outlier was the WEST WING writer's room. Aaron Sorkin liked us to give ideas for stories and he was really instinctive. He knew immediately whether he liked it or didn't. If he did, we didn't break the entire story. He liked to write one act at a time then decide what would happen in the next act. Definitely not the norm.
